Liora

E, a fat white woman with a long brown ponytail, holds Mars, a chocolate brown Pomeranian, in her arms. Mars is looking at the camera and E is looking at Mars' cute face.

Welcome, friend from Liora’s Whole Pet in Rockville!

I’m E.

(Yup, just the letter.)

The cutie in my arms is Mars, the Pomeranian. He’s one of my students.

If you’re curious about agility training for your dog, I’ve assembled some info and links below for you.

I hope to see you and your pup soon!

Use code LIORA for $10 off your first agility private lesson or beginner agility group class in Burtonsville!

Links

  • Private Lesson (new student) – $80 for 45 minutes (use code LIORA for $10 off your first lesson)
    • Reactive dogs are welcome in private lessons! I have no neighbor dogs in the yards visible from my back yard. And yes, “stranger danger” reactive dogs are also welcome! My only request is that barky reactive dogs not be in appointments before 10 am. (I love my neighbors.)
  • Beginner Group Class – $40 for 60 minutes (use code LIORA for $10 off your first class)
  • Group Agility Classes at Your Dog’s Friend in Rockville – YDF has three amazing agility instructors (Susan, Morgan, and myself) and several days for classes. Get on the notification list to be emailed when new sessions open for registration – spots fill quickly!
  • Silver Snouts Senior Dog Agility at Your Dog’s Friend – Lisa teaches this class on Tuesdays and it is so, so fun. I call the “Jazzercise” of agility.
  • Puppy Agility Games at Your Dog’s Friend – Morgan teaches this class for pups under a year old who want to get started on the skills needed for agility.

Do you have a ball-crazy dog like Maggie? Here’s h Do you have a ball-crazy dog like Maggie? Here’s how to use a ball to get them to start jumping:

1. Hold your dog by the collar or harness a few feet back from the jump.

2. Toss the ball over the jump. DO NOT LET GO OF THE DOG YET.

3. When the ball hits the ground, release the dog.

We want them driving forward to a “dead” ball rather than tracking the ball in the air while jumping. Most ball-crazy dogs will crash into the jump if you let them go early. ;-)

We use this method only a few times to get them excited about jumping and then start using the ball as a reward rather than a lure.

Happy training!
