Learn the Foundations of Agility through Fun Games
Join us for Drop-In Beginner Agility Classes at Foley’s Dog Training in Burtonsville, MD.
How does this class work?
Dogs should be at least 6 months old to participate.
This is a drop-in class, which means you can attend any session that has available space. You must pre-register and pay online to reserve your space.
Class will include games for:
- Attention & Focus
- Body Awareness
- Physical Fitness & Conditioning
- Agility Foundation Skills
- Relaxing in Busy Environments
Each week will include different games & activities to build on the core skills needed for agility.
Graduation
Dogs who can demonstrate their mastery of the skills in Level 1 will be eligible to sign up for Level 2 drop-in classes. Dogs who master the skills of Level 2 can sign up for Level 3.
They can also continue to attend lower level classes if they wish. There will be new dogs, new people, new distractions, and we can add challenges for more advanced pups.
Attention & Focus
Your dog will learn that paying attention to YOU is more rewarding than anything else in the environment.
Body Awareness
Your dog will discover they have four paws and how to balance on a narrow plank without falling off.
Physical Fitness & Conditioning
Your dog will build their muscles to be leaner, faster, and lower their risk of injury.
Agility Foundation Skills
Humans and dogs will play games and develop the skills needed to succeed on the agility course.
Relaxing in Busy Environments
The most valuable thing a dog can learn is to have an “Off Switch” – aka, to be able to chill out on a mat or in a crate and wait their turn quietly.
Is this type of class right for your dog?
Is your dog at least 6 months old and able to:
- see other dogs without barking? (A few woofs are okay!)
- eat treats (or play with toys) in a new place around new people & dogs?
- do basic manners skills in public (sit, down, wait/stay, come)?
NOTE: Foley’s Dog Training is a private home in a residential neighborhood. Your dog should be able to be on leash or crated quietly in between turns. My livelihood depends on my neighbors continuing to tolerate my dog-based shenanigans!
